Dear colleagues,
We invite submissions for a special issue of Tijdschrift voor Filosofie: Louvain Journal of Philosophy, entitled “Play and Phenomenology: World, Symbol, Resistance.”
Founded in 1939 and published by Peeters Publishers, Tijdschrift voor Filosofie is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to philosophy and the history of philosophy. Its independent editorial board is based at the Institute of Philosophy, KU Leuven. The journal publishes contributions in Dutch, French, English, German, and Afrikaans, with an English abstract. Each contribution undergoes double-blind peer review by at least two experts from different universities.
The journal is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science – Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI), ERIH PLUS, The Philosopher’s Index, International Philosophical Bibliography, and other scholarly bibliographic databases. Its historical archive is also available through JSTOR.
The special issue explores the philosophical significance of play in phenomenology, from lived experience and embodied practices to Eugen Fink’s conception of play as a symbol of the world. It welcomes historical and systematic contributions addressing questions of world, embodiment, symbolism, freedom, and resistance.
Submission deadline: Extended abstracts of 500–800 words, 15 December 2026.
